A Stick in the Ground
Have you ever felt unsure of your salvation?
It is amazing that I have been a part of the church for all 23 years of my life, and I sat in the category of people who were unsure of their salvation. Well, that feeling of insecurity was completely demolished this past week.
Training camp was an amazing experience. We had a session about our identity. In it we were to talk about who we are in Christ. I could very clearly say with conviction that I was the salt and the light of the world, or that I was a servant of Christ, but I was still hesitant when it came to saying that I am holy and blameless, or forgiven. The speaker, Nancy, said that she was in that unsure category for a long time as well. We had a little chat the next morning.
So for the last time, I rededicated my life to Christ so that I could say with certainty that on January 24, 2009 in Gainsville, Georgia, I Kasandra Williams committed my life to Christ for the FINAL time! I am fully redeemed, made pure, and sanctified by the beautiful blood of Jesus Christ! Nancy gave me a certificate with her signature, and she told me to go put a stick in the ground as another physical representation of my salvation.
So during free time, I treked up a little hill, found a good sturdy stick, and twisted it solidly into the ground. I stood up thanking God for his gift of salvation, and for my security in knowing that it was true, and the most amazing thing happened. A breeze blew out of no where at the place I was standing, and I was filled instantly with the most amazing joy and peace! GOD IS GOOD!
So if you are feeling unsure…make that commitment and stick a stick in the ground. Build a monument, paint a picture, do something! Satan lies to us to get us to believe we are not truely God’s children, that we are inadequate in his eyes. But guess what…We are truely his Beloved! Praise God!!!!!
Well, I’m crying like a baby right now. What a beautiful testimony. I can so relate. Satan is certainly good at creating doubt and insecurities. He’s scared of our power through Jesus. You will do great work if you keep God ahead of you. Wait for His direction. Have a fun time serving Him!!
Kasandra – We just returned from a trip to Guatemala and I was so pleased to read your blog and find the confidence and conviction in your words as to who you are in Christ. Praise Him for bringing you to the finalization of this. The words you wrote on the board here in Georgia are still there – You are FREE indeed. Keep moving forward. He has much in store for you! I am praying for you.
